Rosa Amanda Tuirán is an award-winning Mexican filmmaker, photographer and journalist.
Tuirán received her B.A in International Relations from the Mexican university Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in 2016. She worked at BuzzFeed News in New York City and was a National Association of Hispanic Journalists Fellow at CBS News in 2019. Tuirán was part of the COVID-19 reporting project with the Investigative Reporting Program and The New York Times to help meet the need for comprehensive reporting on how the COVID-19 crisis affected California.
Tuirán graduated from her Master of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley in May 2020 and is now working as a freelance producer and photographer. She is also training to become a professional underwater cinematographer.
Her work has been featured on PBS Frontline, PBS NOVA, Vice News, National Geographic, The Guardian, The New York Times, OceanX and KQED.
Tuirán currently splits her time between San Francisco and Mexico City.
